Scholarship Award Program

Congratulations!
The WISC Scholarship Award for 2006 was presented to Matthew Davidson and Colin Cassin in recognition of their many years of support to the Club and their own personal achievements. We wish them both continued success and extend our thanks for your contribution to our Club and the Community.

Program Details

Whitby Iroquois Soccer Club has been involved with the development of youth soccer in Whitby for a number of years. The Club's soccer program has produced both professional and international players who have represented Canada at the international level. The Club is also interested in the educational development of our young men and women. As a result, we are proud to offer a Scholarship Program to assist eligible players and referees who aspire to further their studies by attending University or College.

PROGRAM

The program provides scholarships to WISC players who are in Grade 12 at High School and intend to go on to College or University. These scholarships are provided to individuals who are chosen by the Club Scholarship Committee and who meet the Scholarship Program eligibility criteria. The award will not exceed $2000 (maximum) and will not be less than $500. One male and one female candidate will be selected.

SELECTION CRITERIA

The candidates must be recognized as having been a valuable asset to the Club over no less than 5 consecutive years and must currently be playing or refereeing for the Club.
Candidates must have demonstrated their commitment to the Club both on and off the playing field, i.e. assisting in other Club functions, such as volunteer work within the Club.
Candidates do not need to compete or referee at a competitive level.
Candidates must be in Grade 12 when applying for the Scholarship.
Applications may be submitted by players or coaches.
Prior to the scholarship being granted, candidates must be able to prove his or her acceptance at a college or university.
Candidates must provide proof of continuing studies prior to receiving their second installment.

Scholarship awards will be paid in 2 installments. The first will be paid at the start of the school term and the second will be paid in January or at the beginning of the second term. A resume and a letter of recommendation must accompany each application.

Note: All applications will become the property of the Club. In the event that the Club does not receive a nomination for both male and female candidates, the scholarship funding will only be provided to the maximum amount of $2000 to one gender only.
