TEAM TRYOUTS
- Players interested in playing competitive soccer MUST attend scheduled tryout sessions.
Exceptions are at the discretion of the Director of Coach and Player Development
- Teams will be ranked within an age group.
- Lead Coach for each age division must submit to the Club Administrator a written list of all players who have tried out by mid-October.
- Players selected for a specific team will receive an official Club Offer to Play form.
- Rosters need not be filled during tryouts. A maximum of 3 spots per team may be left open.
- Only official Club forms of Offer to Play or Release are to be used.
- Upon receipt of an Offer to Play form, a player has the following options:
a) Accept offer to play
b
) Decline offer to play with written explanation sent to the Director of Coach & Player Development - if rationale is accepted by Director of Coach & Player Development, the player’s request will be honoured; if request is denied, player may either accept the Offer or play on a Club recreational team
c) Decline offer to play and choose to play with another Club
- Final Offers to Play will be made by dates published and a list of players given an offer will be submitted immediately to the Club Administrator
- Any new players to the Club MUST first be assessed by the Lead Coach for the appropriate age group. Lead Coach has first opportunity to make an offer in a timely manner.
- Approval to play up may only be given by the Director of Coach & Player Development or the Director of Technical Development with consideration being given to the younger age team and availability of players.
- Properly completed WISC roster forms must be completed for final team selections
- Poaching, as defined by the OSA, will not be tolerated and will be referred to the appropriate governing body.
Procedure
The process of player selection for Competitive teams will occur during the last weekend in September and the first weekend in October. The Director of Coach & Player Development will provide an initial schedule which will be published on the Club website.
These tryouts will take place at a common location for all WISC teams.
All players are strongly encouraged to play within their age group. “Great talents” can be acknowledged as “call ups” for higher ages and/or participation with District, Regional, Provincial and National Team Programs. Outstanding talents will be given consideration to play up on a regular basis to consistently play in a challenging environment.
