Returning team officials will no longer be required to book a re-screening interview providing they coached in the previous consecutive year. All team staff, please arrange to drop by the office during business hours to leave a copy of your receipt for police check. This will enable the office to process your paperwork for your team. If you have your final police check, you will need to sign a form once it is presented to acknowledge we have not kept a copy and it has been returned to you. This can only be done with an official screening officer. Please send an e-mail to Sandy Arrowsmith at admin@whitbysoccer.com in order to attend at the office to present your final document and sign off on it.

TO BOOK AN INTERVIEW - New coaches and new team staff must have a screening interview (it takes about 5 minutes) - please send e-mail to: admin@whitbysoccer.com providing your availability preferably Monday or Tuesday evening during regular office hours to attend at the Club office with two screening officers.

If you have not completed the above, you will not be registered, placed on a roster, able to apply to go to tournaments, participate in a league, exhibition games, book fields, use gyms, sit on the bench, etc.

NOTE: These are requirements of our governing bodies - not rules initiated by this Club.

ALL competitive, select and all star team staff are now required to maintain an OSA Team Official ID book - books may be obtained at the Club office. Books used by leagues in previous years are no longer valid. This is a requirement of our governing bodies - OSA, DRSA.

Outdoor Recreational Coaches

NO SCREENING INTERVIEW IS REQUIRED

Have you handed in your
1. Police Check or Receipt to prove you have applied for a PC (every 3 years)
2. OSA Coach Application Form (every year)
3. 3 References (every 3 years)
Every year ALL Coaches are required to submit a completed OSA Coach Form prior to being assigned a team. All individuals applying for the first time to coach a recreational team for the outdoor 2007 season must also submit a Criminal Record Check (CRC) to a Club Screening Officer along with 3 references. Your submitted police check will cover you for 3 consecutive years as a coach. As there is a lengthy wait for police checks each year, you may submit a receipt from the Police Department to confirm that you have applied. You will be required to present the actual Police Record Report as soon as it is received. Police Reports are returned to applicant immediately upon presentation.

Bytesize Coaching

The Byte Size Coaching Program is a coaching website built to assist coaches by having a quality curriculum designed to benefit the players and coaches alike, as well as assist coaches with no formal training.

The program is designed for community soccer programs which rely on volunteer parent coaches, most of which are new to coaching and may not have played the game of soccer. Well over 60% of the children playing soccer in North America are under the age of 12. Paradoxically, over 75% of the coaches in North America coach this age group.

The ideas put forward in the Byte Size Coaching Program cover all fundamental aspects of the game and will give coaches at every level, grassroots or competitive, some good ideas to work with. It's a great program for the kids and a wonderful tool for our coaches. The Byte-Size Coaching Program offers excellent examples of how practices should be organized for the enjoyment of the players.
