The Ontario Soccer Association (OSA) today announced that Whitby Iroquois Soccer Club (WISC) is one of eighteen clubs that have been awarded an Ontario Player Development League (OPDL) license for a two-year period. In 2014, teams will take to the pitch in the U13 age group. The OPDL will add the U14 age group in 2015, and will continue to add an age group in each successive year.

Doug French, President, WISC Bill Sidsworth, Executive Director WISC

WISC is extremely pleased to announce the hiring of David Thorburn as our new Technical Director.

David has over thirty years experience in professional soccer as a player, coach, manager and chief scout. He is highly qualified and has worked extensively in Scotland and England with many clubs including the Glasgow Rangers, Aberdeen and Greenock Morton as well as the Scottish and English FA.

David also has vast experience in the North American Soccer Leagues. He was the overseas Manager for four years with Glasgow Rangers. He has delivered coaching education clinics to many clubs including the worlds largest coaching organization - the NSCAA. ( National Soccer Coaches Association of America )

During his coaching and scouting career he has been responsible for helping over one hundred young players achieve their dream of entering the professional world of soccer. Some of these players include current Scottish and English Premiership players past and present.

David has been coaching in Canada and the USA since 2004, during this time several players have received scholarships and trials with top European teams including Glasgow Rangers, Ajax, Aberdeen, Birmingham City, Middleborough, Aston Villa, Leicester City, Reading, Fulham and Chelsea.

Many of you may remember that David was part of the team of coaches from the Glasgow Rangers that worked for 4 years in the preseason for WISC a few years ago. During that time David became familiar with a lot of our coaches and players which should make the transition for him quite smooth.

David's knowledge of the game and his assessment of players is second to none. With his enthusiasm and passion for the game David will be a valuable member of our "team". Welcome back Davey - we look forward to working with you for many years to come !!!!!

- 3 Consecutive Years.

The 1996 Boys B (U17) Team won the 2013 Ottawa Tournament for a THIRD consecutive year (2011, 2012 & 2013). Our Team played very well in the Group Stage playing against tough opponents from Ontario, we were unbeaten conceding only two goals and advancing directly to the Semis where they easily disposed of Timmins S.C. in a 5-0 win. The Final Game was played against a very competitive UMSC and our Boys dominated a good part of the game with strong ball possession, aggressive defending and the game ended in 1-1. Our Boys prevailed in Penalty Kicks in the Final game. The penalty kick round determined after 5 rounds crowned Whitby U17 Boys as Champions of the Tournament as our Keeper (Dustin) made 3 spectacular saves. We would also like to mention that in May the Team competed and Won the Canton Cup Tournament in Michigan US.

We like to Congratulate our Boys for playing a terrific and exciting brand of soccer, a great fun weekend, representing the Whitby Iroquois Soccer Club with class on and off the Field, integrity and Honour. We would like to extend a particular thank you to all our parents for all their support and commitment to this Team and our Coaching Staff for all their endless contribution, motivation and guidance:
